Magda XIII, the largest design ever built by Johan Anker, has been refit with a high modulus HR40 carbon mast and standard modulus 34-700 carbon boom. Built on the Hall 352C mandrel, the mast and boom have a classic style taper. The yacht was designed and built in Sandefjord, Norway in 1938.
Johan Anker was also the designer of the Dragon, first launched in 1929, and chosen for the Olympic Class from 1948 to 1972. Continuing the Olympic tradition, Hall Spars & Rigging is also the official rig supplier for the current Olympic Class multihull, the Nacra 17, to be sailed at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Games.
Hall BV's Pieter Brinkman is on hand in Sandefjord for assembly and stepping, and sail trials will be held together with the team from Quantum Sails immediately following. Stay tuned for more photos!
